La Città Attiva

A vital city is always complex and layered in functions, people and time. It's full of different stories, simultaneously being told, not even finished, because the city itself is never finished. Like nature it continuously undergoes processes of decay, death and regeneration.

Here we don't write a new book of Pigneto, we only add some chapters. Such modifications transform the flyovers into the longest park of Rome, and finds a parking solution above the existing train tracks, blocking noise, saving expensive and archeologically sensitive ground and re-connecting the both sides of the railway.

The all new building programme will be built as a new layer super-positioned on the existing ones. Yet the scheme retains existing structures and buildings, including the tram tracks in the pavement.
